Welcome to the
Check back here often for behind-the-scenes news, updates on events, and fun articles written by a wide range of individuals.
As we are a couple months into our season, we have so many fun and exciting opportunities coming your way! Here on the blog you will find everything about Melody Lane and the performing arts. We love sharing our love and passion for the arts and this is just another great place for us to share it with you! So here it is – a kick off article to our MLA blog written by Miss Sarah, our owner and artistic director.
Our Culture
We strive to create a positive, nurturing atmosphere for our students to learn and grow in, both as performers and as individuals. Our performers are encouraged to be themselves, learn how to learn and always to be encouraging to others. As always we pride ourselves on having age appropriate music, moves, and costuming.
Our Life Lessons
At MLA we strive to not only teach the performing arts, but to teach everyday life lessons. We talk a lot about how we hope we are helping raise well rounded, hireable individuals. We see MLA as a stepping stone not always to a future in the performing arts, but to a future of their own making. Every child deserves to be told that they can do anything and that we are here to help. Some of these lessons include taking turns, working as a team, respecting others, working hard, saying thank you, and most importantly setting and achieving goals.
Our Expectations
Students of every age are expected to act, speak and work with respect. Respect for each other, themselves, and their instructor. We have a saying on staff that we only give students things we believe they can accomplish. It might take hard work and determination but eventually they can achieve and succeed at what they are given.
Our Beliefs
We believe children and young adults are capable of so much, given the opportunity. We believe that it takes a village to help a child grow. We believe that every child is uniquely themselves. We believe we are building the future to our community not just great performers. We believe that children can achieve a goal if we teach them how to set them appropriately. We are just one of many building blocks they need and can use to build the life they want for themselves.
