At Melody Lane Academy, we believe every child deserves the chance to shine. Open House is how that starts. We open the studios, put a real instructor in every room, and let your performer try it for themselves. No experience needed, no commitment, and nothing to prepare.

These spots are for brand new performers
Open House is built for children who have never taken a class at Melody Lane. Every spot we have is being saved for a family meeting us for the first time.
Already part of our Snapshot membership? Then this one is not for your performer, and we are so glad they are already with us. What would help enormously is passing this along. If you know a family who has been thinking about it, send them this page. There is nothing better than starting a season next to a friend.

Find your performer's class
Every class is grouped by age, so your performer is always with kids their own size and skill. Each one samples several styles, so they get a real taste of what we do.
Little Beginnings
Their very first class, with you right there on the floor beside them. Fifteen minutes of scarves, bubbles, music and movement for our littlest performers.
Preschool Explorers
Forty-five minutes of ballet, tap, hip hop and tumbling, with a little music mixed in. One class, and four different things to fall in love with. No experience needed.
Little Stars
Built just for six and seven year olds, because they are ready for more than a preschool class and should not be the youngest in a room full of ten year olds. This one is theirs alone.
Older Performers
Five styles sampled in one class, with no audition and no commitment. Come find out where they actually are and which class fits.

Fair question, and you should know before you spend a Saturday morning with us. Here is every Winter class we offer, by age. Tap your performer's age.

Four questions and a time. It takes about a minute on your phone.

Arrive ten minutes early. We check you in and walk you to the right studio.

What to expect when you arrive
What to wear and bring
- Comfortable clothes they can move in
- Bare feet or socks, no special shoes needed
- Trying tap? We have loaner tap shoes in every size, so do not buy a thing
- A water bottle
- Hair pulled back if it is long
- Nothing to print and nothing to buy
While they are in class
- Parents wait in the lobby, and you can watch the last few minutes
- Our full Winter schedule is on the board with live spot counts
- The Sparkle Store is open if you want to look at shoes
- Someone from our team will sit down with you afterward
- Performers walking through age 2 have a grown-up on the floor with them

Is it really free?
Yes. No cost, no deposit, and nothing to buy. Come try it.
What if my child has never taken a class?
That is exactly who Open House is for. Most of the performers in the room will be brand new, and our instructors are very used to welcoming them.
What should they wear?
Comfortable clothes they can move in, and bare feet or socks. No special shoes or dancewear needed.
Do we need tap shoes?
No. We keep loaner tap shoes in every size at the studio and we will fit your performer at check-in. Please do not buy shoes for a class you have not tried yet.
Can I stay and watch?
Yes. Parents wait in the lobby and can come in for the last few minutes of class. For our walking through age 2 class, a grown-up is on the floor the whole time.
Is Tuesday different from Saturday?
No. Both are real Open House classes. Tuesday has two age groups, one in the afternoon and one in the evening. Saturday has the full schedule. Pick whichever works for your family.
My child is right on the edge of two age groups. Which one?
Text us at 1-877-343-9623 and we will help you pick. Our six and seven year olds have their own class on purpose, so if they are turning six soon, that is usually the right room.
My performer already takes class here. Can they come?
These spots are saved for children who have never taken a class at Melody Lane. If your performer is already part of our Snapshot membership, please pass this page to a friend instead. We would love to meet them.
Do I need to sign anything?
You will check one box when you register, and we will have a short paper waiver at the check-in table. It takes a minute.
When does the Winter Trimester start?
Monday, September 28, and it runs through January 22. If your performer finds a class they love at Open House, we will hold their spot.
What if we cannot make either day?
Text us at 1-877-343-9623. We will find another time to get your performer in a class.
